For a move, you need sturdy moving boxes. Laundry baskets, banana boxes or bin bags are no substitute.

We also advise against cheap DIY-store boxes that you have to tape shut at the bottom. They cannot cope with heavy loads and are hard to stack in the lorry. That costs more manpower, load space and time.

Use proper moving boxes – Confido will deliver them to you. You can choose from, for example:

All boxes are made of high-quality multi-wall corrugated cardboard and were developed specifically for removals. A patented folding method, for example on the base, makes them very stable and able to take heavy loads.

The wardrobe box is robust, stable and durable. With a load capacity of 90 kg and a metal hanging rail, it is Confido’s standard for every move.

Delivery and billing

When you move with the Confido Group, we deliver the packing materials calculated for your move free of charge. At the end, we only charge for the boxes you have actually used.

You can also get moving boxes and other packing materials from Confido for a DIY move – whether moving, book, glass, bottle, wardrobe, file or storage boxes.

Bubble wrap – known in German as “Lupo” or “Knallfolie” – is ideal for packing fragile items such as lamps, vases and pictures. It is an elastic, usually transparent plastic film made of at least two layers.

It was invented rather by chance in 1957 by the engineers Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes. They were actually looking for a new wallpaper that would be easy to hang and easy to wipe clean. Along the way, they realised that their invention also made a light yet robust packing material.

Today, the removals industry could not do without it. Like all our packing materials, you can get it from the Confido Group and have it delivered free of charge.

Padded cases protect pictures, glass panes, high-quality table tops and other flat items against knocks during a move. The items are secured in the cases and fixed in place in the transport vehicle.

Inside, the padded cases contain foam like the kind used for sound insulation in recording studios, for example. The outer shell is made of robust multi-wall corrugated cardboard. Elastic bands or adhesive tape close the cases and hold the contents firmly in place.

This keeps your belongings well protected. When you move with Confido, we deliver the padded cases free of charge and pack your items in them.

Moving blankets – also called furniture blankets – protect your furniture against scratches, scuff marks and other damage in transit. They are also used to secure the furniture in the lorry.

We strap large pieces of furniture such as wardrobes, doors and mirrors to the side wall of the furniture van’s box body. To stop the straps rubbing against the furniture on the road, we cover everything that is strapped down with a moving blanket first.

The furniture van itself also matters: ideally, it should have air suspension. That way, vibrations from the road are not transmitted directly to your belongings.

All Confido employees have ample experience and have completed appropriate training.

You need tissue paper during a move mainly for glass and porcelain – whether for transport or storage. Wrap all fragile items well in it.

We strongly advise against using newspaper: the printing ink rubs off on glass and porcelain and is difficult to remove afterwards.

Crumpled tissue paper is also useful for filling gaps in boxes. This gives the contents extra support.

When you move with the Confido Group, we deliver the tissue paper free of charge together with the other packing materials on your preferred date. You can also get the materials from Confido for a do-it-yourself move.

As with storage containers, overseas containers come in several sizes, for example:

• Liftvan (smallest unit): approx. 5.8 m³
• 20-foot container: approx. 32 m³
• 40-foot container: approx. 65 m³
• 40-foot high-cube container (largest unit): approx. 70 m³

We use these containers on overseas moves to take your belongings safely to another continent. On the way, the container passes through different climate zones. Depending on the route, it is therefore advisable to use means of preventing condensation, such as drying salts.

Only certain types of wood may be used for packaging and for securing the load. Every item gets a number sticker and is recorded precisely in a multilingual packing list.

A carefully kept packing list prevents problems with customs clearance in the destination country. In addition, every country has its own customs and import regulations. Confido knows the current rules and informs you in advance of any import bans in the destination country.

We take care of customs clearance completely. At the destination, the Confido Group brings all your belongings into your new home.

Hiring a sea container with Confido

Whether your container is going to Dallas, Rio, Hong Kong, Beijing, Dubai or New York, you will have a dedicated adviser as your contact person throughout the move.

With overseas packaging, we plan for many factors in advance so that damage does not occur in the first place. Every item is packed individually – using materials such as specially coated bubble wrap, furniture fleece, cardboard and wood.

The wood must be suitable for export and treated to the IPPC standard. If the packaging rules of the destination country are not followed, entry may be refused. The container is then sent back at the sender’s expense – which is very costly.

Depending on the destination, the container also passes through different climate zones. The packaging must therefore compensate for differences in humidity and temperature. We also use drying salts, depending on the destination. They balance the humidity and protect the goods in transit.

Is your house or new flat not ready yet, or are you going abroad for a while? Then you can store your furniture in a storage container with Confido. This is how it works:

1. We pack all your belongings at your home so they are ready for storage and load them into the container.
2. The container goes straight from the lorry into one of Confido’s container stores – without your belongings being reloaded.
3. It stays there for as long as you like.

All Confido container stores are protected by alarm systems and secured against fire and damp.

Containers come in various sizes, which we match to your volume. For large volumes and long storage periods, a container is the best solution. If you wish, we seal the container so that no one can open it unnoticed. We will be happy to advise you on any questions about storage.

File containers are mobile steel cabinets that you lock yourself with a padlock or a seal. This makes them well suited to transporting confidential documents and computers.

They are mostly used for office or company relocations over long distances, to keep third parties from gaining access as far as possible. You can also store small amounts of confidential documents in them temporarily – on your own premises or in a Confido store.

Whether it is a private or office move, and whether you are moving to Krefeld, Düsseldorf or Cologne, you can book file containers from Confido at any time. Your files stay securely locked throughout the move.

Badly packed clothes create a lot of extra work during a move – for example, if you put clothes from their hangers into a normal moving box or bin bags.

That is exactly what the moving wardrobe box is for: a box with a built-in hanging rail. Your clothes stay on their hangers and are transported hanging up. This is how it works:

1. Your clothes go into the wardrobe box.
2. Confido’s furniture fitters dismantle and transport your wardrobe.
3. In your new home, the wardrobe is reassembled and your clothes are put back exactly as before.

The advantage for you: all your clothes are immediately back in their usual order and in their usual place. Nothing needs ironing or cleaning.

The wardrobe boxes can be closed with a lid. This makes them suitable for storing clothes, too – for example in the cellar, the garage or Confido’s furniture store. Your Confido adviser will advise you on this.

Wardrobe boxes for moves at home and abroad

You can get wardrobe boxes from Confido for moves abroad, for example from Germany to the USA or Brazil. The same applies to moves within Germany, such as from Berlin, Frankfurt or Munich to Krefeld, Hamburg or Düsseldorf.

When you move out, rooms often have to be handed over cleaned or renovated. Confido takes care of window cleaning, floor cleaning, painting and repair work – also individually if you wish, independently of a move.

Old files and data carriers containing confidential information do not belong in household waste. Confido has them securely destroyed in a shredding facility or archives them in a secure file store.
